Choosing a Suitable Car Tyre

When planning for a new set of tyres of your car, don’t just go for the cheapest one that you can find. Every car has different requirement for the car tyres. It is always good to replace a car tyre which is similar to the current one.


However, another factor that you must consider is what kind of driver are you. If you are a driver that likes to go for speed, then a high performance car tyres with a good grip in wet and dry surfaces may be your first choice of purchasing. Comfort and noise level may not be a priority to you. Of course, you must bear in mind that this type of car tyre cost more too.

If your car is for normal usage such as ferry family member around and making short trips to the nearby supermarket or shopping centre, then you will need to consider a car tyre that are more quiet and last longer. This type of car tyre will be more suitable for a family car and budget wise is much more cheaper as compared to the high performance tyre

One thing that you must know for choosing a car tyre is the code printed on the tyre side wall. For example, if your car tyre was printed with the code as : P210/65R15 95H, it means :

P : Type of vehicle. “P” stands for passenger tyre

205 : This is the width of the tyre in millimetres.

65 : This is the ratio of height to width

R : This letter stands for Radial

15 : This is the Rim diameter code

95 : Load index and speed symbol

H : Speed rating and represents the maximum speed tyre can sustain at full load.
