Information on getting a driving licence in Singapore

Everyone knows that getting a car in Singapore is expensive. However, the first thing before you get a car, you must have a driving licence. Below are some information that you may find it useful in getting a driving licence in Singapore.

Legal Requirement
Any one who wants to drive a car in Singapore will need to be at least 18 years of age.

Learning to Drive
To learn to drive, you have the option of either enrolling into the driving school or engage a private instructor for driving lessons.

Comfort Delgro Driving Center (CDDC)
Singapore Safety Driving Center (SSDC

Basic Theory Test (BTT)
Passing the Basic Theory Test (BTT) is a must before you can apply for a  Provisional Driving Licence(PDL). The Basic Theory Test (BTT) is to test your understanding of the traffic rules and regulations, traffic signals and signs on the road.

Final Theory Test (FTT)
You must pass your Final Theory Test (FTT) before you can proceed to take your driving practical test. The Final Theory Test (FTT) is to test your safety knowledge and driving skills. You will need to pass the practical test within 2 years after passing the Final Theory Test (FTT). Failure to do so will require you to re-take the Final Theory Test (FTT)

Riding Theory Test (RTT)
Riding Theory Test (RTT) is for those who wants to ride a motorcycles on Singapore’s road. The test is to test your basic understanding of the traffic rules and regulations, signals and signs on the road. You must pass the Riding Theory Test (RTT) before you can apply a Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) to for your practical lessons.

Booking of Basic Theory Test (BTT),Final Theory Test (FTT) & Riding Theory Test (RTT)
Before booking of the tests, you must know it by heart from getting a handbook of the tests from either one of the driving centers listed above or from the bookstores. All tests will be conducted in the driving centers
